Cornwall’s top dog shows for Summer 2017

The dog show season for summer 2017 is getting under way. Here is our pick of the array of contests happening across the county. Hope to see you at some of them…

Saturday, June 17th

Port Eliot Dog Festival

Port Eliot House and Gardens, St Germans, Saltash PL12 5ND


As part of the day long festival, there is a dog show with some wonderful classes to enter, including an old favourite: ‘Dog who most looks like their Owner’. Other events include a Whippet Tea Party and for humans, a variety of artisan food stalls and live music. Entrance to the festival is £4, under 11s free + £1 per class entry in the dog show. All proceeds donated to the Children’s Hospice South West.

Saturday, July 1st

Cats Protection: Cornwall Adoption Centre – Summer Open Day and Dog Show

Cats Protection: Cornwall Adoption Centre, Point Road, Carnon Downs TR3 6GE

11am- 3pm

As part of this annual open day, local charity K9 Crusaders are hosting a dog show. In addition to a host of stalls, there is plenty for the kids, including face painting and a bouncy castle. Free entry to the open day, dog show entry is £1 per class.

Sunday, July 2nd

Fun Dog Show and Refreshments

Hayle Recreation Ground, Hayle TR27 5AL


Organised by the Cornwall centre of the National Animal Welfare Trust, this is a Fun Dog Show in aid of the cats and dogs at the centre waiting for their new homes! The Co-Op supermarket have kindly allowed the use of their car park but would appreciate something being bought from the store in return.

Bark in the Park

Kimberley Park, Kimberley Park Road, Falmouth TR11 2D


Falmouth’s doggy festival returns to raise funds for local dog charities, find homes for unwanted dogs and to celebrate all things canine! A great chance to meet groomers, trainers, dog walkers, doggie daycare businesses AND enter your pet in the dog show for 50p per class.

RDA Fun Dog Show

Old Mill Stables, Old Coach Road, Hayle TR27 6LN


Hosted by Riding for the Disabled Association. South West Cornwall Group, classes range from “The dog the judge would most like to take home” to “Best Rescue Dog”. There’s even an Egg and Spoon Race for dogs and owners!

Fun Dog Show – Camborne Agricultural Show

Gwealavellan Farm, Hell’s Mouth, Camborne

Fun Dog Show starts at 11am

In aid of K9 Crusaders, categories include best party trick, prettiest eyes and fancy dress class, the latter being held at the end of the event after the best in show. Entry to the main show: Adults £7, Children 10-16 £4, under 10s free, family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) £20.Fun dog show entry £1 per class.

Monday, July 17th

Stithians Show Open Dog Show

The Showground, Stithians, Truro TR3 7DP


The largest one day agricultural show in Cornwall includes an open dog show with a variety of traditional categories including utility and terrier but entry forms must be in by June 19th. Entry to the main show: adults £11.50, children 5-16 £5, under 5s free. Entry Fees for dog show: £5.00 per dog First class £3.00 per same dog subsequent class. Not for Competition £1.00 per dog.



Wednesday, August 9th

Annual Dog Show – Camelford Agricultural Show

Halwill Barton, Camelford

Dog shows start 11am

A traditional agricultural show for locals and summer holiday visitors alike with a lively schedule of dog shows, starting at 11am with a Companion and Novelty Dog Show leading into pedigree classes from 12.30pm and novelty classes after 2pm. Closing date for entries is July 25th, see website for details and prices. Companion and Novelty Dog Show entries taken on the day, £1 per class. Entry to the main show: adults £10, children under 12 £4, under 4s free
